After one long, trying year, Nicholas has accomplished a great goal--he finished his chemotherapy treatments and got to ring the bell! June 16, 2008 was a great day. Ringing the bell is a big deal for cancer patients. The nurses and staff stopped what they were doing and gathered around Nicholas. Then they sang him a song, "Our patient has the cutest smile; our patient has the sweetest heart; oh, we love to see you every day! But, now's the time we get to say, 'Pack up your bags, get out the door! You don't get chemo anymore!" Nick still has some challenges to overcome, but the hardest part is over. Now he looks forward to getting stronger, and hopefully be able to compete in tennis again.
