Christmas in Oklahoma

While the Edwards, Jensens, and Jones families were creating candy trains in Arizona, the Choates continued the tradition in Oklahoma. We also dressed up as shepherds for our branch Christmas social. Jared served as the centurion and gave every one a bag of shekels to spend at the market. Each family was required to pay their taxes just as Joseph and Mary did in their time. Simple foods (pitas, fruit, cheese) and toys (dreidels, "gold") were available to purchase. It was a fun activity that helped us appreciate the Christmas spirit.

I LOVE that idea for a party. Was the money plastic or chocolate coins? That is so, so clever! I am going to file that idea for use next year! Y'all make great looking shepherds. Sounds like you had lots of fun.

Love, Emily

The coins were cardboard, painted black. The gold was rocks painted gold. It was a really simple activity, but wonderful and meaningful too.
