Jake's Big Day

Congrats to Jake who was ordained a Deacon this past September 2nd. Jeff sent some pictures and comment along with permission for me to post:

Attached are a few photos of Jake's big day becoming a Deacon and Aaronic Priesthood holder. We were able to do the ordination in the School of the Prophets in Kirtland, which is a small room, upper floor of the NK Whitney store. We were blessed with perfect weather and a surprise visit from Grandpa and Grandma Jensen (we wish all of you could have been here and hope you enjoy the photos!)

Jake was well prepared, having completely read the Book of Mormon beforehand. Here is Jake in front of the "refiner's fire" (ashery). Jeff also passes this along. I think you will find fascinating!

Melinda was told by a local church historian to look through her geneology to see if any ancestors had lived in the Kirtland area during the building of the temple period because the prophet had prophesied that the posterity of those early members would return to the Kirtland area to build up the kingdom...just last night Melinda discovered (in the red family history book from your side of the family) that your side of the family did indeed have people here who labored and sacrificed to build the Kirtland Temple! So, we may be here for more reasons than one.

Okay some clarification here, actually a disclaimer: It has been said by some members in our ward that there is a prophecy spoken of here that decendents of those that lived in Kirtland during the early church days would one day return to help build up the kingdom of God. I asked for the source of this prophecy but they couldn't tell me, but said "you'll hear this alot". SO far I haven't heard it from anyone else or found the source of the quote, although the idea is an interesting one. Also, I did find in the small, red Brimhall book that Noah Brimhall did work on the Kirtland temple. This is mentioned briefly on page 1 in the first chapter.
