Jared has had a fabulous tennis season. He improved his winning record over last year. He won the regional tournament last week. This regional tournament is played at a private school called Heritage Hall; the tennis facilities are very nice. His coach, Sibbya Phillips, said that it is considered to be an honor to win a tournament there--which he did. His whole team qualified to go to state. The state tournament is held at the OKC Tennis Center in--where else--OKC. Billy and Susan took Jonathan and made a weekend out of it. It was thrilling to watch Jared play, especially when he won points against opponents who were tough. Jared ended up placing 6th. He had wanted to place 5th or higher, because those winners get medals. Jared can feel very proud of the way he played and conducted himself. I noticed that he never lost his cool, and after losing his last match, he went up to the net and chatted amiably with his opponent. He even talked to his opponent's coach, too. Way to go, Jared!

Wow! Jared, we are so proud of you. It's fun to be a good athlete but it is a mark of true greatness to be a good sportsman. How wonderful that you are both.

Susan and Billy,
isn't it the BEST to watch your kids excel and be a good example to the people around them?! Congratulations on raising a fine son.
